PSCW Grants Approval for Nemadji Trail Energy Center

Dairyland and ALLETE’s Minnesota Power (Duluth, Minn.) have received approval for the Nemadji Trail Energy Center from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW). The combined cycle natural gas plant is proposed for construction in Superior, Wis.

At its open meeting on Jan. 16, the PSCW commissioners verbally approved issuance of a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) on a 2-1 vote. This approval allows project partners Dairyland and Minnesota Power to move forward with plans for the up to 625 MW natural gas facility.

Dairyland partners with Hintgen Elementary

Through the La Crosse Public Education Foundation’s (LPEF) Adopt-a-School program, Dairyland has partnered with Hintgen Elementary. The Adopt-a-School program matches businesses and community organizations to specific schools in La Crosse.

The overall program goals of Adopt-a-School are to promote community understanding and support of La Crosse public schools, improve student success and address needs specifically identified by the schools.

E.J. Stoneman Station time capsule reveal

The Village of Cassville, Wis., will be hosting a public revealing of the contents of a time capsule recently discovered during the dismantling of the E.J. Stoneman Generating Station, formerly owned by Dairyland Power Cooperative. The ceremony will be held at the Riverside Park shelter near the site of the plant on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 3:30 p.m.

Palmberg appointed to Governor's Task Force on Climate Change

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers has appointed Dairyland Vice President, External and Member Relations, Rob Palmberg to the Governor’s Task Force on Climate Change.

The task force will advise and assist the governor in developing a strategy to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change for the benefit of all Wisconsin communities. Members of the task force will work closely with the Office of Sustainability and Clean Energy. The task force will report their findings and policy recommendations to Gov. Evers by August 2020.

President & CEO Barb Nick appointed to Governor's Council on Workforce Investment

Gov. Tony Evers has appointed Dairyland President and CEO Barb Nick to the Governor’s Council on Workforce Investment.

Nick will serve as a business representative on the council. "Your experience, knowledge and dedication will be a true asset to my administration and a great benefit to the people of Wisconsin," said Gov. Evers in his confirmation letter to Nick.

Solar Site Dedicated in DPC Service Territory

A utility-scale solar generation site is online and producing renewable energy in the service territory of Jo-Carroll Energy, a Dairyland member cooperative. The York Solar Site, located near Thomson, Ill., is a 1.5 megawatt solar energy array owned and operated by ENGIE North America. Dairyland Power Cooperative, Jo-Carroll Energy’s wholesale power provider, has a power purchase agreement with ENGIE for the full output of the facility. ENGIE installed, owns, operates and maintains the facility.
